A woman from Indore complained to a consumer court that she paid Rs 1.8 lakh to Byju’s for an IAS coaching course, but didn’t receive any coaching.
She claimed that she was misled by the false and misleading online advertisements posted on behalf of the coaching company.
The court ordered Byju’s and its promoter, Shah Rukh Khan, to return the fee with 12% annual interest, pay Rs 5,000 for litigation costs, and give Rs 50,000 in compensation for the woman’s financial and mental distress.
The court also issued a notice to Byju’s manager and Shah Rukh Khan, instructing them to comply with the order within 30 days.
